In Lolita staat de veertienjarige Sue Lyon tegenover de bijna veertig jaar oudere James Mason (prof. Humbert Humbert). Het was kantje boordje, maar aangezien Kubrick erotiek verving door suggestie, kreeg de film in 1962 toch de goedkeuring van de MPAA.
