Magritte ou la leçon des choses (1960)

In Magritte or the Object Lesson, documentary filmmaker and enthnologist Luc De Heusch (1927-2012) enters the universe of René Magritte accompanied by the painter himself. The film is not only an introduction to the Surrealism of Magritte, by making cinematic choices (the use of dissolves, framing and mise-en-scène…) it also mimics the style and formalism of the painter and becomes an artwork in its own right.
