Crazy Love (1987)

In the eighties, a new generation of Flemish film makers comes to the fore, of which Dominique Deruddere and Marc Didden are the most prolific. Based in Brussels, they make very different films from their Antwerp counterparts of the rebellious Fugitive Film collective (notably Guido Hendrickx and Robbe De Hert). Crazy Love is a triptych about a a young man looking for love. We follow three nights in the life of Harry Voss, in 1955, 1962 and 1975 respectively. The 1975-episode is a loose adaptation of Charles Bukowski’s The Copulating Mermaid of Venice, CA

The premise of the film, reminds that other (Walloon) sexual coming-of-age film, La vie sexuelle des belges (1994).
