De Thanhouser Studio werd in 1909 opgericht door Edwin Thanhouser. In zijn achtjarig bestaan produceert studio meer dan 1000 films. De Thanhouser films stonden bekend om hun artistieke en narratieve kwaliteiten en werden internationaal verdeeld.
The Evidence of the Film (1913) is een one reel misdaadfilm die zich afspeelt in het filmmilieu. Naast een spannend verhaal, geeft de film ook een waarheidsgetrouw beeld van de productie van een Thanhouser film anno 1913. Van een opname op locatie (inclusief het ‘continuity script’) tot de montage van de film.
